What is the PTO?

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) strives to encourage partnerships between parents, teachers, and the larger school community to enhance every child's experience at Ingomar Elementary School (IES).

What are the PTO's responsibilities?

In addition to funding field trips, assemblies, and staff appreciation, the PTO raises and collects funds to address concerns and issues that may arise throughout the year. The PTO provides teachers with allotments to help with their classroom needs and assists with classroom holiday parties. PTO members create, sell, and distribute our annual yearbook. Additionally, the PTO hosts various social events throughout the year, like our annual Ice Cream Social and Holiday Shoppe!

Exclusive to members only, the PTO offers a variety of after-school programs for IES students.

Is there a fee to join?

Yes. There is an activity fee that differs by grade. This activity fee covers your child's field trips during the year and a t-shirt for Field Day which occurs in late May/early June. Please refer to the Activity Fee page for further details.

When can I join the PTO?

Membership for each new school year opens up in mid-August. Be on the lookout for additional information on how to join the PTO at that time (through email, Tiger Camp, Curriculum Night, or on our PTO Home Page).

Where do the PTO funds go?

The PTO funds pay for school field trips and assemblies. Additional sponsorships include, but are not limited to: the winter and spring concerts, after-school activities, the art show, Field Day, recreational supplies (playground equipment, indoor games for winter recess, etc.), and an online school directory.

I am a member of the PTO, but I want to become more involved in the organization. What can I do?

First, we recommend attending our monthly meetings if your schedule permits. Please refer to our Home Page for details about our next meeting. During each PTO meeting, Dr. M. provides Principal Remarks, the treasurer updates members about our finances, and we report and discuss current and upcoming events.

If you cannot attend our monthly meetings, minutes from each session are posted on our website for review and/or questions.

There are a variety of committees we encourage you to join and explore! Examples include the Paw Shop (a store set up during lunch for kids to shop at), school spirit wear, assembly coordinators, and after-school program coordinators. At the beginning of each year, we seek Homeroom Parents for each grade section. These volunteers help organize classroom holiday parties, gifts for teachers, and foster communication between the PTO and the students' parents.

We hope you will support your child's education enrichment by joining us at our fundraising events and/or volunteering.
